2006 marked the formation of the MODKA tournament players. Select students train to compete and represent the Modified Karate Club in local and state wide invitational martial arts tournaments. This was a busy year and MODKA fighters competed in four tournaments during the last half of 2006.

Genki Marital arts Invitational, Chicago, IL.  Black Belt, Sergio Roman earned a well fought and well deserved first place for sparring and forms. This marked the first time the Modified Karate Club won first place in a Black Belt division. Sergio is the first student officially awarded the rank of Black Belt at our school and accomplished this goal at the age of seventeen. It took Sergio over three years to reach this ranks, and it demonstrates his commitment and loyalty to our school.

Illinois Open Invitational Martial Arts Tournament, Peoria, IL
- August 12, 2006. The JHP Community Center's Modified Karate Club participated in an. This was the first event that our students competed under Olympic Style Sparring rules. MODKA students trained only for two days for this grueling one six minute continuous round of sparring. They have big hearts and even more courage to face experienced competitors during this event.

Students brought home over thirty trophies. Another example of the competitive edge MODKA students have.
