THE APPROACH

The concepts and principles which may also be called the philosophy of this learning system are very basic and “wholistic” in it's approach. "Wholistic" in that the wholeness of the invidual is the focus area of its phylosophy where body, mind and soul are able to eventually express to its full potential.

A-CLASS therefore has its major components of training and development in physical fitness and education, self expression and social skills and academic or mental skills. All these translate to physical, emotional and mental training and development.

To deal with these three aspects, three specific programs were created for this purpose. There is Modified Karate for the physical, academic development in Reading and Math for the mental and the Arts like Music and Drawing for the emotive. Although they seem distinct in their purpose i.e. physical, emotional or mental, all these three aspects relate with one another in the individual's development. For example, while the student is engaged in a Math activity, he/she also learns how to enhance or develop social (emotional) skills by learning to express themselves because of the way the class is structured and calisthenics (physical) are performed to prepare and condition the student for mental exercises. This further illustrates its "wholistic" approach.

In this system the intended direct beneficiaries are not only the students, but also the teachers. The mentors and teachers are in a constant learning process with their students because one reflects the other. A good student is a good student because of a good teacher and the teacher is a good teacher because of the good student, but the greater responsibility falls on the shoulders of the teacher. There are therefore no bad students and only bad teachers. Teachers and mentors are constantly reminded that they also study and learn while teaching.

Training and developing individuals towards positive values and experiences while still at a young age has a better chance in succeeding in life. Children in this system are viewed and treated as innocent beings. The younger the children the more innocent they are. They do not yet fully understand the right from wrong or good from bad.  A-CLASS takes advantage of this opportunity to mold them in a positive way by creating and maintaining an atmosphere or environment wherein they learn positive values.
