Summer Program 2006
Our fourth year of summer programming including a total of
twenty-two paid teens. Seven of the teens were After School
Matters (ASM) Paid Interns and fifteen were ASM paid Advanced
Apprentices. The summer program also received grants through Mayor
Daley's YouthNet and Children and Youth Services.
These funds funded
a new project at the JHPCC called "Cooking Made
simple". The cooking program was a lot of fun for the
kids and parents and culminated in a end of summer buffet prepared
by the kids and parents.
This summer included many different types of art projects as
well as a full time youth video crew. The video crew documented the entire
summer as well as prepare all the video and slide presentations. A anti-violence
grant provided by the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority funded new
equipment and software for the JHPCC video and audio projects.
